Termite attack!!!

Not an appealing way to start a blog and also not an appealing housemate. Unfortunately my USG provided home had them, and after losing a lot of personal property (papers, books and photos stored in cardboard boxes, etc) I was asked to move out while the house was treated. The move could not have happened at a worse time…my sister and another friend Stew were arriving for visits, I got a new puppy three days earlier and with only 1 night notice I needed to pack everything required for 6 weeks of work and travel. For the treatment, all of my belongings needed to be packed up (thank goodness for packers!) and covered in plastic. The treatment company drilled holes 6 inches apart in every corner of every room in the house (what a mess!), then they filled those holes with chemicals, let the chemicals hang out for a few days, and then refilled all of the holes with concrete. After the treatment, the whole house needed painting and the infected wood floors and boards needed replacement. The good news of the timing was that an apartment unit was available in our new building where I could live during the treatment and still have plenty of room for my guests and puppy, while also getting to be close at hand for Jennifer, my sponsoree, who arrived the same day I moved in and lived right downstairs. Thanks to my house staff and a few late nights, I was able to get shifted over and restart life in a new place, at least for 6 weeks. I am still trying to unpack back at the ranch, and am now determined to get rid of half of my stuff.
